Introducing: Wattpad

“In 2013, people spent 41 billion minutes on Wattpad; 30 million stories have been written to date, generating billions of reads and millions of comments.”

“Wattpad opens the doors and enlarges the view in places where the doors are closed and the view is restricted. And somewhere out there in Wattpadland, a new generation is testing its wings…” –Margaret Atwood

Up to this point, you might be wondering what “Wattpad” is. Well, Wattpad is a website where anyone can read and create stores. Before I start describing Wattpad in greater detail, I’ll tell you how I came across this website.

It was several months ago. I was stressed out about reading books. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading books. I like all kinds of books, actually. But my mom was keep telling me to read novels with heavy morals, and I was just tired of reading countless Newbery medal books.

So one day, I was aimlessly surfing the Internet for a few fun books to read. I searched ‘free stories’ in Google, and Wattpad was one of the results. So I clicked it, and that was it. I was instantly captured and even a bit overwhelmed by the amount of stories Wattpad had. And that was the very exciting story of how I happened to enter Wattpadland.

Wattpad is a place where I can read books without thinking about their morals or hidden messages from its authors. By reading books in Wattpad, I can just relax and laugh, and even cry. Time flies by whenever I read the stories. I usually read a book several times and I rarely get bored.

But, even though I think Wattpad is great, there are some pros and cons. You can share ideas, write stories and write endless amount of books. Moreover, joining some communities will allow you to have friends from all over the world. On the other hand, you might be tired of waiting for an update since writers usually upload a chapter per week. It actually depends on the writer. The grammatical errors will sometimes make you want to quit reading. For instance, lots of people confuse ‘we’re’ with ‘were’ and ‘dessert’ with ‘desert’. Lastly, Wattpad will definitely consume your time because once you start reading; you won’t be able to stop.

So, since I’ve been reading countless Wattpad books, I’ll list the top 3 books.

1.     The Cell Phone Swap by DoNotMicrowave
(Not complete/ 1 sequel)
Keeley accidentally swaps cell phones with a rivaling high school’s star quarterback. Unable to switch back until a week later, she must interact with the arrogant boy, passing along texts and voicemails. As she gets to know him better, she realizes that there’s more to him than sexual innuendos and egotistical comments. But when identities are revealed and secrets are exposed, will Keeley’s feeling remain?

2.     How To Turn A Good Girl Bad by LikkleAngel
(Complete/ No sequel)
Hailey is a good girl. She gets good grades, she never argues, even she knows she is a pushover. Her sister Rebecca is the popular head cheerleader, so it’s hard to tell if they’re related. Moving from place to place has become their life, and Hailey doesn’t think starting another new school life will be any different. Daniel is the bad boy. He doesn’t care what people think. When Daniel becomes a part in Hailey’s life, it might just be enough to turn a good girl bad…

3.     A Proscriptive Relationship by XxSkater2Girl16xX
(Complete/ 2 sequels)
Holly’s new, young teacher has a dark past, and a dangerous future. She soon finds herself charmed by his ways, and gets thrown into the chaos. Who knew having an ex-gangster for a teacher could be so troublesome? A Holly and Mr. Heywood grows closer, more questions about his past come upon Holly, as does danger. What is Mr. Heywood keeping from Holly? And why is it so bad? But most importantly, if she falls for him, could their relationship survive? After all… it would be a proscriptive relationship.

The three stories above are my favorites but there are so many more out there. I’m sure you’ll find plenty of stories that will keep you interested.

Have you ever read or written a story on Wattpad? Do you read books from other websites? If you do, what are they?

A Game a Day Keeps the Boredom Away

I cut and slashed inside the huge mob of minions. I could feel myself weakening at the sight of another band of minions. I looked back at our tower. It was blasting minions who tried to destroy it. When I saw our team’s reinforcement minions streaming into the battlefield, I felt a flicker of hope. The hope disappeared as I saw a enemy champion, better armed than I, running toward me with his ax whirling. It was Darius, the Hand of Noxus. He slashed and hacked at me and I felt his ax bite into my weakened body. I fell to the ground and the blackness closed around me.

I took off my headphones and told my friend, who was playing right next to me, to stop Darius from destroying the tower. This is the vivid image of the game I play, League of Legend (a.k.a LOL).

There are many types of games we play. Board games, phone games, card games, and online games, and more. Today, I will talk about some types of games and recommend some games to you...

1. Board games. that involves moved or placed on a board, according to a set of rules. Games can be based on pure strategy, chance like rolling a dice, or a mixture of the two. A famous example of a board game is a game called Monopoly. I enjoy playing this game with my sister and my cousins when they come over. One time, I was playing with my friends and he had only 100 bucks left. I was sure that I would win, but I stepped in his parker street with 2 hotels and the tables were turned. I lost the game and my pride because it was the first time he played Monopoly. Like this, Monopoly is a very fun game that can Another example is Chess. Chess is a game where you have to use your wits to kill the king of the other team. It could be a hard game to learn the rules, but when mastered, it could be a very entertaining and challenging game.

2. Phone games. Nowadays, there are a lot of people who have smart phones. There are many applications that can be installed in your smart phones. Phone games are addictive and have various themes and game plays. I would like to suggest the game Clash Of Clans and Wild Blood to you. Clash Of Clans is a game where you build a city, raise an army and raid other people’s towns. You get gold and elixir. You can upgrade the town and make a clan for yourself or join one. I personally think that this game is very addicting because of the different strategy and cute troops. Next, Wild Blood the theme is the medieval times when King Arthur rules Camelot. The main character is Lancelot, and the story is to save Camelot from the crazy King Arthur and his evil sister Morgana. You can use an ax, a sword, and a bow. I would like to recommend this game to people who like RPG, Hack and Slash game.

3. Card games are popular with both the old people and the young people. There are many types of card games. I don’t like card games too much, and I only play card games when I absolutely have to. I don’t know anything about card games, and I won’t even pretend to know poker, but I will recommend 2 of my favorite card games. The first one is famous. Uno. We have a colored and numbered card, and we have to use up all our cards to win the game. We can pile the cards with same numbers or color. The second game is slamwich. The players each get cards with the ingredients of a sandwich and they have to make a whole sandwich to win.

4. Last but not the least (actually the best of all types of games), online computer games. These types of games are the most played and in my opinion the best. There are many types of online games. There are RPG, MOBA, and so on. I would like to recommend two games to you. The first is League of Legends. League of Legends is a fast-paced, competitive online game that blends the speed and intensity of an RTS with RPG elements. There are two teams of powerful champions, each with a unique design and play style, and you battle head-to-head across multiple battlefields and game modes. It is very addicting and it’s got the most players all around the world. The second is FIFA online 3. It’s a soccer game and it has various tricks and stunts you can play inside the game. It has vivid graphic and can be more fun if you play with your friends.

WAKE UP!!!!!

Do you have a hard time waking up in the morning? I do, and I bet I'm not the only one who's having trouble waking up. To solve this problem, I set loud and noisy songs as my alarm. Here's some recommendations for those who are like me. Keep in mind that it's just a list, not a ranking or something. I mean, the order these songs are listed is random, and it doesn't mean anything!

1.Everybody - SHINee

I'm a big fan of SHINee so no wonder why this song is the first one on the list :)
This song's first line is "Everybody wake up. The sun is rising." Perfect lyric for an alarm song, huh? If you watch the music video, you'll notice that this song is very loud and exciting. Yeah, it will totally help you waking up. By the way, aren't they cute??

2. La song - Rain

Have you heard of this song? If you haven't, scroll up, go ahead and listen to it. No explanation needed if you have! Set the "LaLaLa" part as your alarm and you'll be out of bed before you know it!

3. Very Good - Block B

Another song that doesn't need explanation. It's loud and exciting(?) It might annoy you if you hear this song in the middle of a deep sleep... If you aren't a morning person, why don't you set this as you alarm? It will definitely help you. At about 3:20, Tae-ill (I don't know if I spelled it right) sings this super high notes. I recommend you set this part as your alarm and you'll turn into a morning person.

4. Rising Sun - TVXQ

Look at the title: Rising Sun. Doesn't it sound like an alarm song? Well, when you read the lyrics, it's not an alarm song(it has deep meanings). However, this song is loud. If you cut out the "Rising sun~~" part and the high notes by Changmin at around 4:30, it will be the best alarm! Imagine "Rising sun~~" repeating over and over! No more words needed, huh?

5. Gangnam Style- Psy

Here it comes, probably the most famous k-pop song. If you hear this song as an alarm, in the morning, you might be excited the whole day. Oh, be careful not to dance while waking up! You might fall from the bed..

6. Good morning Baby- A Pink

Wow, finally a song sung by girls!! Apologies if you are a guy and were bored of watching these videos of guys. I'm a girl, and I'm writing down only boys' music unconsciously. Anyway, this song is made to be an alarm. If you want to start your morning with a cute girls' voice, here is the song for you.

7. Alarm clock - SHINee

Another SHINee song....haha! DO NOT set this as alarm if you can't wake up easily. This song is for those who can wake up easily, and want to wake up quietly. By the way, this is my favorite song :P  (That's why I put this song in the list even though it's a calm song.)

8. Nilili Mambo - Block B

Loud and exciting, huh? This song is one of my favorites. It's also very good to sing with your friends when you wanna go crazy! At about 1:40, P.O says "Stop dreaming!" (it's in korean). It will be hilarious if your alarm keeps repeating that part.

9. Bar Bar Bar - Crayon Pop

This song was a big hit in Korea last year. Because of their unique concept and dance, a lot of people made parody videos of it. It won't be bad to start your morning with their dance. Jumping! Jumping!

10. I Got A Boy - Girl's Generation

Girl's Generation!! One of my favorite girl groups!! They're all so pretty... Anyway! This song used to be my alarm! Set this as yours and the girls will wake you up every morning!!! There are other great song sung by them such as Gee, The Boys, Hoot.....and etc. Oh, and their new song 'MR. MR." is COMING OUT SOON!!! So excited...can't wait!

These were my recommendations, but are there other songs you like to set as your alarm? Or do you wake up without alarm? Then how do you wake up?.......
And Lastly, please listen to more k-pop songs!!
